After spending way too much time trolling pinterest for pictures of vintage crates and crafty ideas, Bren and I decided to make a huge entertainment center for our living room out of them! Home Depot ships the crates free if you buy enough of them and they are pretty cheap. Long story short I opened my garage door this winter to a wall o’ crate boxes lightly dusted with snow. Hurray!
After trying many different configurations, we finally settled on this one. We had to use brackets on the back to keep the crates steady, although we ended up mounting the tv anyway. This pattern has an open square in the center which is fun. Next step was the many, many hours of sanding and staining. Ugh!
And finally, the finished crates all set up in my living room – tada!
